Prof Richard Holmes CBE

Professor Richard Holmes CBE is one of the country's leading military historians, holding chairs at Cranfield and Southampton Universities and serving as President of the British Commission for Military History.

He has presented 7 highly successful TV documentary series ("In The Footsteps of Churchill" for one) and is working on an 8th.

He is a prolific author with 20 acclaimed books to his credit including the best selling 'Tommy: The British Soldier on the Western Front'.

A keen horseman, he has ridden several of history's great campaigns: in mid 2008 he followed Henry Tudor's 1485 route from Milford Haven in South Wales to Bosworth, near Leicester, raising money for his favourite charity, the Army Benevolent Fund.

You will gather Richard is both an academic and adventurer of the very highest order, he is also a huge personality with charisma to match and in so being can light up any dinner/social occasion with his absorbing lectures and thoughts on past, current and future world military scene doing so in a totally interesting and entertaining manner.
